A “new idea” among many others

It’s been over a year since I had time to do the streaming sessions (in spanish) to go over the different subjects from the Acquia Certification test for Site Builders. Thankfully, it’s been due to a good amount of work.

However, I’m always thinking of stuff I’d like to do if I had time. As eventually the plan is to go over all the subjects from the other certifications as well, and as I’m also looking for exercises for my junior / mid developers to tackle so that they have a better grasp of Drupal, I decided to spend some time and start setting something up.

So welcome to this site!

What’s in store?

  • Start creating a lot of blog posts. Why? Because we will need content that makes sense to migrate.
  • Migrate? Where? … well.. Drupal … of course. This is a WordPress site (not my default choice if I wanted to create a site like this one [I’ll explain why in a later post].
  • What’s the point? If it works to get content out there, why not start with Drupal? Well, I wanted something that kind of ressembles a real life scenario. Over the past years I’ve migrated stuff in and out of Drupal. Usually people wonder how to do it, so as an exercise to teach and practice it is definitedly a good one. I could always do a Drupal 7 to Drupal 9 migration / upgrade, but I think it makes more sense to teach people how to migrate from WordPress to Drupal and maybe convert some haters? Plus, it also helps me to take a look at WordPress and check how it has changed over time (a few more thoughts on a future post as well).

There are also a few things that I need to refresh as it’s not been part of projects in the past and the knowledge I had is not up to date.

For instance:

  • Working with ads.
  • Google Analytics.
  • WordPress, Gutemberg and page builders.

And of course there are things I need to learn:

  • React
  • Gatsby ??? (maybe, it relates to React and Decoupling Drupal)
  • NextJS ??? (on top of React, another way I could try decoupling Drupal).
  • NextJS for Drupal ??? (relates to both).

So … lots of ideas to implement and of course (I won’t lie) try to monetize from them (passive income is always welcomed). But also, the most important thing is to help people walk this Drupal path. As we know, it is no easy to traverse.
